The Georgia Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (GSHMPR) presented Memorial Hospital and Manor with a Gold Target Award at its annual conference in May at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, Ga.
The annual Target Awards, which were first presented in 1970, recognize outstanding marketing and public relations programs within Georgia’s health care organizations. These awards give society members a vehicle to showcase their marketing and public relations accomplishments while recognizing the industry’s top performances.
Jan Godwin, director of public relations and volunteer services at Memorial Hospital and Manor, received the Gold Target Award for a “One Person Show,” which is given in recognition of a Georgia hospital’s marketing and public relations program managed by a single employee.
Godwin has worked as director of public relations at Memorial Hospital and Manor since 1996, and assumed the added responsibilities of volunteer services director in 2002 and Web site administrator in 2007.
The 2009 Target Awards competition attracted a total of 101 entries from Georgia Hospitals.
Winners were honored at the annual meeting, receiving trophies of excellence in 28 different categories, including brochures, print advertising, television advertising, special events, writing, fund-raising, government relations, and overall marketing and public relations campaigns.
