Frankie Ray

Funeral services for Mrs. Frankie Hunter Ray, 98, of Tampa, Fla., were held Saturday, June 20, at St. Paul AME Church in Jakin, Ga., with the Rev. Alvetta Butler officiating.

Interment followed in the church’s cemetery with Mrs. Ray’s grandsons serving as active pallbearers.

Born July 29, 1910, in Cedar Springs, Ga., Mrs. Ray died June 11, 2009, in Tampa.

Mrs. Ray was a member of Allen Temple AME Church in Tampa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard “Jack” Ray; and a daughter, Louise Tolbert.

Survivors include four sons, Frank Hunter of Tampa, Fla., Herbert Hunter of Jakin, Steve Hunter of Pocono, Pa., and Samuel Hunter of Tampa; a daughter, Ruth Bell of Cairo, Ga.; 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Moore Funeral Home in Donalsonville was in charge of funeral arrangements.
