Funeral services for Charles Wendell Smith, 80, of Faceville, were held Thursday, June 11, at Sylvania United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy McNair officiating.

Interment followed at Sylvania Cemetery.

Born Sept. 21, 1928, in Plant City, Fla., Mr. Smith died on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Smith was a retired farmer and worked many years at Florida State Hospital. He was a member of Faceville Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Mae Bateman Smith of Faceville; his daughter, Betty Ann Worrell of Chattahoochee, Fla.; two sisters, Naomi S. Summers of Bristol, Fla., and Geraldine S. Walker of Preston, Ga.; two grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
