Funeral services for Marion Kenneth “Kenn” Blankenship, 68, of Colquitt, Ga., will be held Wednesday, June 10, at 3 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel, located at Colquitt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roy Harrison officiating.

Interment will follow at Primitive Union Cemetery in Miller County.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home.

Born Oct. 30, 1940, in Mohawk, W.Va., Mr. Blankenship died Monday, June 8, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Blankenship spent the last 30 years as an entertainer and was nominated to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. He was of the Primitive Baptist Faith.

Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Jimmy Blankenship, and one baby sister.

He is survived by his mother, Cora Mounts Blankenship of New Richmond, Ohio; his wife, Barbara J. Blankenship of Colquitt; a son, Darrin Kenneth Blankenship of Colquitt; a daughter, Kelly S. Flowers of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a step-son, Wesley Steven Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; a step-daughter, Shea Roberts of Cleveland, Ga.; and three brothers, Dallas Blankenship, Ronald Blankenship and Vernon Blankenship, all of New Richmond.

Colquitt Funeral Home in Colquitt, Ga., is in charge of funeral arrangements.
