Funeral services for Vergie Lee Sadler, 87, of Whigham, Ga., were held Sunday, May 31, at New Home No. 2 Freewill Baptist Church in Climax, Ga., with the Revs. Benny Cumbie and Ralph Harrell officiating.

Interment followed at the church’s cemetery.

Born April 25, 1922, in Mitchell County, Mrs. Sadler died Friday, May 29, 2009, at Pinewood Nursing Center in Whigham.

Mrs. Sadler was a homemaker and a member of New Home No. 2 Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Sadler; a son, Buddy Sadler; a granddaughter, Valerie Glover; and five brothers, Carson Barfield, Arvis Barfield, J.E. Barfield, Elvin Barfield and Julius Barfield.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosa Barfield of Whigham, Betty Guthrie of Brinson and Brenda Adams of Cairo; two sons, Marvin Sadler of Moultrie and Edwin Sadler of Whigham; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Clark Funeral Home in Cairo was in charge of funeral arrangements.
