Funeral services for Thomas J. Day, 82, of Bainbridge, were held Sunday, May 24, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tony Haire officiating.
Interment followed at Greenshade Cemetery with his grandchildren serving as active pallbearers.
Born Oct. 13, 1926, in Bainbridge, Ga., Mr. Day died on Friday, May 22, 2009, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.
Mr. Day was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a welder for Attapulgus Clay Company and later owned the Franelgo Motel and Restaurant and was the retired owner of Flint River Seafood Restaurant.
Mr. Day was preceded in death by his daughter, Zelinda Day Kelly.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille White Day of Bainbridge; two daughters, Gerraine Day Strickland of Bainbridge and Jackie Day Biletzskov of Darien, Ga.; a brother, Richard Day of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sisters, Christine D. Bullock of Bainbridge and Lorine D. Craft of Palm Harbor, Fla.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
