Funeral services for William Nix, 66, of Bainbridge, will be Friday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Russell Hardesty and Henry Kennedy officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Dale Glover, Julian Crowder, Steve West, Walt Landrum, Tony Kelly, Ernie Finley, Andy Jones, Charles King, Brian Jones and Tommy Jones serving as active pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Cox-Ware Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 10, 1942, in Decatur County, Mr. Nix died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.
A lifelong resident of Decatur County, Mr. Nix was an alumnus of Bainbridge High School, a former All-State football player and a U.S. Army veteran.
Nix was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Billie Jo Nix; three sisters, Betty Nix, Jeanette West, Evelyn Jones; and two brothers, Ralph and James Nix.
Survivors include his wife, Iona Nix of Bainbridge; two sons, Ben Nix of Colquitt and Chip Nix of Bainbridge; four sisters, Pat Finley and Barbara Kelly of Bainbridge, Joanne Glisson of Columbus and Frances White of Thomasville; a brother, Jarratt Nix of Bainbridge; and three grandchildren.
Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
