Graveside services for Thomas “Tommy” W. White Sr., 73, of Cairo, Ga., will be held Thursday, May 7, at 11 a.m. at Cairo Cemetery with the Rev. Tegler Greer officiating.

Mr. White’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at their residence.

Born April 8, 1936, in Cairo, Mr. White died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at Grady General Hospital in Cairo.

Mr. White served in the U.S. Army and was an engineer with Sprint Telephone Company in Tallahassee, retiring after 36 years of employment. He was a member of Cairo First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Townsend.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Cox White; two sons, Tom White Jr. of Bainbridge and Tim White of Cornelia, Ga.; two daughters, Tammy White Hester of Cairo and Tracey White Edge of Quitman, Ga.; a brother, Ed White of Bainbridge; 13 grandchildren and a beloved cat, Goldie.

Clark Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
