Funeral services for Jacob Mathis, 13, of Bainbridge, will be held Thursday, May 7, at 4 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with Brother Stanley Phillips, Dr. Carl G. Garnett and the Rev. James Scarborough officiating.
Interment will follow in Brinson Cemetery with Jesse Harris, Tyler Pippins, Brian Ross, Michael Ross, Mike Pepper, James Trawick, Jimmy Nix and Wesley Hooks serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 6, from 5 to 9 p.m. in the chapel of Cox-Ware Funeral Home.
Born Dec. 5, 1995, in Grady County, Ga., Mr. Mathis died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, Ga.
A lifelong resident of Decatur County, Mr. Mathis was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a seventh-grade student at Hutto Middle School and played snare drums in his school’s concert band.
Survivors include his parents, Michael Mathis and Amanda Swords Mathis of Bainbridge and Jenny Davis of Bainbridge; three sisters, Cara and Amanda Ross of Brinson and Rebecca Mathis of Bainbridge; his grandparents, several cousins, aunts and uncles.
Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
