Thurbert Baker to speak at teachers’ retirement banquet

State Attorney General Thurbert E. Baker, who has announced plans to run for governor in 2010, will be the guest speaker at Decatur County Schools’ Annual Retirement Banquet on Monday, May 4. The banquet will be held in the cafeteria of Bainbridge High School, 1301 E. College St., at 6 p.m. on Monday. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased in advance by calling Brenda Campbell at the Board of Education office at (229) 248-2802. Checks are payable to the Decatur County Association of Educators. Eleven retiring educators will be honored, as will School Superintendent Ralph Jones, who recently received the Georgia Association of Educators’ award for Outstanding Administrator (System-wide).
