A reception honoring local student artists will be staged at the Firehouse Gallery on Water Street on Sunday, May 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. Student art will be on display each afternoon throughout the following week from 1 to 4 p.m., including Saturday and Sunday, May 9 and 10. Entries into this show have been screened by local art teachers and best entries in several categories will be recognized at the Sunday reception. The public is invited to visit the Firehouse and enjoy the displayed talent. Also scheduled by the Arts Council for local student artists is a Summer Art Camp. June 1-5 will be set aside for rising fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders. June 8-12 will focus on rising seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders. Participants will be recommended by local teachers based on students’ demonstrated aptitude for the visual arts.
