Funeral services for Mary M. Avery, 84, of Bainbridge, Ga., will be held Wednesday, April 15, at 10 a.m. at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Milton Harrison, family and friends officiating.

Interment will follow in Beulah Thomas Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Avery was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Decatur County, Ga. She died at her residence on Sunday, April 12, 2009.

Mrs. Avery was a homemaker and lived all of her life in Decatur County. She was a member of Beulah Thomas Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Varnell Avery; a daughter, Judy Avery; a son; Allen Avery; two brothers, William Joseph Meredith Jr. and William Franklin Meredith, and a sister, Elizabeth Medina.

Survivors include three daughters, Kay Smith of Bainbridge, Linda Donley of Colquitt, Ga., and Laura Avery of Bainbridge; two sons; Meredith Avery of Pelham, Ga., and Larry Avery of Seminole County, Ga.; one brother, William “Dick” Meredith of Bainbridge; 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
