Former Bainbridge High School Lady Cats cross country and soccer performer Taylor Guy was a member of the Chipola College cross country team in Marianna, Fla., that was recently named an Academic All-American Team.

The team was ranked fifth in the nation with a 3.697 cumulative grade point average.

Guy, daughter of Greg and Cheryl Guy, is a sophomore at Chipola.

Other team members are Taylor Dover, Laura Day, Ellen Manor and India Hatcher.

Chipola cross country coach Rance Massengill said he was very proud of his team and the award, which was presented by the National Cross Country Coaches Association.

“Our cross country runners are true scholar athletes,” he said. “They excel on the course and in the classroom.”

The Chipola cross country program is relatively young but has made big strides. It was just established in 2007.
