Ada Crankfield

Funeral services for Ada Lee Crankfield, 44, of Colquitt, Ga., were held April 8 at Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Colquitt with the Rev. Archie Crews officiating.

Interment followed in the church’s cemetery with Michael Lundy, James Register, Dennis Hopkins, Craig Huntley, Thomas Register and Jeffery King serving as active pallbearers.

Ms. Crankfield was born Jan. 1, 1965, in Colquitt, Ga. She died on April 1, 2009, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.

Ms. Crankfield joined Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church at an early age. She later joined the Donalsonville Holy Deliverance Church. She was an alumnus of Miller County High School and later attended Bainbridge College, where she received certification as a nursing assistant. She worked at Donnie Mills for a number of years, but most recently worked with Seminole Manor. She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Lee Crankfield.

Survivors include her father, E.C. Crankfield; a stepmother, Rachel Crankfield; two daughters, Shareka Shuntea Miller and Shatoya Dantrell Crankfield; seven sisters, Edith Harris and Shirley Crankfield of Atlanta, Ga., Linda and JoAnn Crankfield of Colquitt, Patricia Clark of Thomasville, Ga., Peggy Russ of Bainbridge and Marie Collier; seven brothers, Jackie and J.D. Hightower of Bainbridge, Steve Crankfield of Colquitt, Ga., R.T. Hightower of Newark, N.J., 1st Sgt. Jamie Crankfield and Jerry Crankfield of Killeen, Texas, and Ladon Crankfield of Damascus, Ga.; one grandson, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, friends, classmates and co-workers.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
