Funeral services for Betty Sue Whiddon, 76, of the Recovery Community, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4, at Recovery United Methodist Church with the Revs. Donna Sue Roberts, Jean Watson, John Whitehead, Charles Stephens and Lynn Roberts officiating.
Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Chattahoochee, Fla., with Paul David Johns, David Sellers, Kenneth Whiddon, Jack Whiddon, Blaine Cort and Fred Broome serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 3, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Bainbridge-Decatur County Humane Society, P.O. Box 429, Bainbridge, GA 39818 or Recovery United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Paul David Johns, 330 Booster Club Road, Bainbridge, GA 39819.
Ms. Whiddon was born April 7, 1932, in Chattahoochee, Fla. She died on March 31, 2009, at her residence.
Ms. Whiddon was the daughter of Sank B. Whiddon and Carrie Bell Grimsley Whiddon. She was a graduate of Chattahoochee High School, Florida State Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse. Ms. Whiddon was a member of Recovery United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer of the Ladies Lydia Group. She was also a supporter of PETA and Arbor Day. She was preceded in death by her great nephew, Brian Moody.
Survivors include her two sisters, Mae Moody of the Recovery Community and Peggy Cooper and her husband, Johnny, of the Recovery Community; four nieces and nephews, Carrie Ann Flynn and her husband, Bill, Peggy Sue Anderson and her husband, Ernie, Rex Allen Moody and his wife, Connie, and Dennis Keith Cooper and his wife, Monique; four great-nieces and nephews, Zoe Logan, Shana Dean, John Clayton Cooper and Emily Catherine Cooper; two great-great nieces and nephews, Sabryna Dean and Nicolas Dean; and her dear friend, Patsy Dowdy.
