Funeral services for Christine O. Boyd, 85, of Columbus, were held Tuesday, March 24, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus with the Revs. Mylan Brookins and Bob Hawkins officiating.

Interment followed in Parkhill Cemetery.

Born on Sept. 23, 1923, in Miller County, Ga., Ms. Boyd died at Columbus Hospice House on March 22, 2009.

Ms. Boyd served numerous families in the Columbus area for many years as a caretaker and attended Cascade Hills Church. She was an active member of Miriam- Rebekah Lodge No. 7, Columbus LAPM No. 6 and Columbus LEA No. 4.

Her generous spirit and loving heart will be missed, but the wisdom and memories she has left for us will be our inspiration.

Survivors include three daughters, Cecilia “Cil” Boyd DeHart of Columbus, Ga., Anita Boyd Rabon of Bainbridge, Gaye Ressmeyer of Columbus, Ga.; a son, Chris “Bubba” Boyd of Columbus, Ga.; one brother, Robert Edwin O’Hearn; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus was in charge of arrangements.
