A memorial service for Arthur Lee Hanks, 87, of Jakin, Ga., will be held Thursday, March 26, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery in Jakin, Ga., with the Rev. James Scarborough officiating.

Born in Early County, Ga., on Oct. 11, 1921, Mr. Hanks died on Sunday, March 22, 2009, at his home.

He attended Springfield Baptist Church and worked as an electrician for the State Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lula Rhodes Hanks; his wife, Shirley Hanks; and a daughter, Sheila Hanks Buckhaulter.

He is survived by one son, Scottie Lee Hanks of Jakin; a sister, Lucy Ola Hanks Fogg of Vermont; and a granddaughter.

Evans Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, Ga., is in charge of the arrangements.
