Funeral services for Arlene Cowart Dickson, 81, of Bainbridge, will be held Thursday, March 26, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Leroy C. Spinks and the Rev. Paul Medley officiating.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cowart was born July 8, 1927, in LaGrange, Ga. She died on Monday, March 23, 2009, in Blackshear, Ga.

She was a graduate of Valdosta High School, Class of 1946, a homemaker, and a member of the Lydia Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Allen H. Cowart.

Survivors include her husband, John Dickson of Bainbridge; her daughter, Paula R. Pierce of Old Fort, Tenn.; her son, Bryan Allen Cowart of Blackshear, Ga.; three stepchildren, Jim Dickson of Pensacola, Fla., Arlene Henderson of Opp, Ala., and Richard Dickson of Allen, Texas; her brother, Alfred H. Pattillo of Lake Park, Ga.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
