Vikings win Bearcat Invitational

Chris Campos of Northside Columbus High School shot an even par 72 Saturday at Bainbridge Country Club to take low medalist honors at the annual Bearcat Invitational Tournament.
In making the low medalist award to Campos, Bainbridge High School Bearcats golf coach Tom Wheeler told the awards ceremony audience that Campos, who led his team to a second place finish, had only played golf for a year and a half.
The tournament was won by the Lowndes County High School Vikings who shot a 309. Their low medalist was Sam Straica with a 73.
Also contributing to the Vikings winning round were Sepp Straka with 74, Ty Howze with a 76 and Tyler Hogan with a 76.
Michael Fleming was low medalist for the Bearcats with an 83.
The Bearcats shot 351 to finish ninth in the 10 team field ahead of the Early County High School Bobcats who shot 394.
Finishing third through fifth behind Lowndes County and Northside Columbus were Tift County with a 314, Lee County with a 315 and Colquitt County with a 329.
Coffee County was sixth with a 332, Thomas County Central was seventh with a 341 and Valdosta was eighth with a 345.
