Funeral services for Laverne Bennett Mims, 71, of Ragland, Ala., formerly of Bainbridge, were held on Tuesday, March 10, in the chapel at Cox-Ware Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kent Barwick officiating.

Interment followed at Bellview Cemetery with Michael Baxter, Steve Knight and Gary Hipps serving as active pallbearers.

Mrs. Mims was born March 11, 1937, in Seminole County, Ga. During her long life, she lived in both Georgia and Alabama and was a baker. She was of the Christian Baptist denomination.

Preceding Mrs. Mims in death were her husband, Joel Mims, and a son, Anthony Mims (This is not the Anthony Mims who is a Decatur County Sheriff’s deputy.)

Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Baxter, Tyna Bagwell and Karen Trento of Davie, Fla.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
