Coram shuts out Knights 10-0

Right-hander Jeremy Coram hurled a two-hit shutout Friday as the Bainbridge High School Bearcats defeated the Upson-Lee High School Knights 10-0 in Thomaston.

The win evens coach Scott Miller’s Bearcats season record at 3-3. They played the Cairo High School Syrupmakers Tuesday in Cairo and will host Harris County High School Tigers Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Bearcat Field.

They put the game away early, rallying for six runs in the top of the first inning. Center fielder Dee Friday led off the inning with a single and went to second on a passed ball.

With two away, third baseman Tyler Hutchins was hit by a pitch, and Coram walked, loading the bases.

Designated hitter Bryan Digby singled, driving in Friday and Hutchins and moving Coram around to third. After right fielder Steven Goodman was hit by a pitch, he moved to second and Coram came in to score on a wild pitch.

Shortstop Ryan Wade singled in Digby and Goodman and went to second when left fielder Tommy Johnson followed with a walk. Wade moved to third on a passed ball and came in on a passed ball.

The Bearcats concluded their scoring with three in the second and one in the fifth. Second baseman Brandon Young led off the second with a single and moved to second when catcher Drew Kelley beat out a bunt.

Third baseman Hutchins followed with a single driving in Young and moving Kelley up to third. After Coram walked to load the bases, designated hitter Digby singled, driving in Kelley and Hutchins.

The Bearcats fifth-inning run was scored by second baseman Young, who walked, moved to second on a passed ball and came in on a one-out single by Coram.
