Bainbridge anglers excel
Bainbridge anglers enjoyed a lot of success Saturday and Sunday at the Georgia Bass Clubs Federation (GBCF) Tournament on Lake Seminole.
Bainbridge’s Bennie Hatton, Donald Culverson and Jackie Alderman teamed with four other Southwest Georgia anglers to help Thomasville’s Rose City Bassmasters six man team finish third overall with a two day catch of 85.41 pounds.
They earned $700 for their accomplishment. Hatton earned an additional $1,000 at Sunday’s final weigh-in at the Earle May Boat Basin for finishing third overall in his Ranger Boat and joining Team Ranger. His two day total was 25.15 pounds.
He was second among Ranger Boaters in the 116 angler field.
Hatton said he caught his fish on crank baits and worms in the Spring Creek area of the lake.
“On Saturday, I caught fish at various times of the day, but I didn’t catch my first one until around 10 a.m. and I caught my last one around 2 p.m.
Sunday’s big fish, which tipped the scales at 7.419 pounds, was caught by Kenneth Sapp of Claxton, Ga.
On the Rose City team with Hatton, Culverson and Alderman were Daryl and Christopher Davis of Ochlocknee and 16-year-old Jeffery Graves of Moultrie, Ga.
