The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is being offered to multi-person households or families with incomes of less than $39,000, and to individuals with incomes of less than $15,000. People who meet those requirements can have their income taxes prepared and filed by volunteers who have Internal Revenue Service training. The program began Jan. 29 and will be held every Thursday (except March 19) from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Gilbert H. Gragg Library at 301 S. Monroe St. in Bainbridge. Volunteers will also help file taxes for eligible persons this Saturday, March 7, and again on Saturday, April 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., also at the library.
