Lady Cats down Lady Trojans

Freshman utility player Brianna Williams broke open a scoreless match with a goal in the first 30 seconds of the second half here Friday night and coach Chip Ariail’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats soccer team went on to down the Brooks County High School Lady Trojans 4-1.

Williams took a pass from the second half kickoff and wove her way past five Lady Trojans on the left side and scored on a six yard crossing shot.

The next three Lady Cats goals were scored by junior midfielder Whitney Thomas who recorded her third hat trick of the season.

She scored in the 50th minute on a crossing shot from six yards out after taking a pass from junior midfielder Aubrie Provence, in the 53rd minute off another Provence pass and the 56th minute from eight yards out.

The Lady Trojans only goal came as the result of a Lady Cats miscue in the 64th minute.

Lady Cat goal keeper Amy Gonzalas had come out of her goal to try to retrieve a ball that popped loose. She and a Trojan player collided inside the penalty area.

Another Lady Trojan player retrieved the ball and sent a pass inside the Lady Cats six yard box. A hustling lady Cats defender tried to clear out, but she mishit the ball and it traveled into the goal.
