The Hutto Middle School Builders Club is back in business as it has elected new officers and begun its first service project for the year.
Returning members Devin Thompson and Allie Brock will serve as president and vice president for the remaining of the school year.
Joining the officers serving as reporter is Darryl Thompson and serving as secretary is Terra Faison.
The club’s first service project began Feb. 17, as club members offer $1 green and $5 gold shamrocks to Hutto Middle School students as a way to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Last year, the HMS Builders Club with the help of Hutto Middle School students and faculty, was able to donate more than $1,000 and plan to meet and exceed that goal this year.
The Builders Club will offer special incentives to the students and faculty as ways to encourage donations to the MDA.
Some of the incentives planned include a bake sale, jean day for faculty and a drawing for a $100 Wal-Mart gift card, which will be held on March 18 for those who purchase the $5 gold shamrocks.
The club will also have a competition between the teams to see which one can raise the most money.
The Builders Club will continue to sell MDA shamrocks through March 18.
