Effective March 1, hours of operation at the old county landfill/transfer station on Georgia 309 South, will change as follows: The old landfill will be open Wednesdays and Saturdays only, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bagged household garbage can still be brought to the site at a cost of $1 per bag or $5 for up to 400 pounds of bagged garbage, $24.50 per ton over 400 pounds. Car tires can be disposed of at a cost of $2 each, with rims, add $1 to each tire; truck tires $8 each, add $2 each for rims; tractor tires, $30 each. The county’s new landfill, located off U.S. 27 South, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.
