Outlaw paddling statewide

Published 3:47 pm Tuesday, February 17, 2009

I read with shock and dismay about the paddling in Decatur County School district. This incident should be a wake-up call to Georgians. There is evidence of injury in many cases to children. In addition, no child with medical or psychological problems should be struck. Not only can bruising occur, but with enough force, internal bleeding is a possibility as well.

I would urge everyone to contact the Georgia House Education Committee and the Georgia Senate Education and Youth Committee as soon as possible and tell them to introduce a bill to outlaw paddling statewide.
