Tennis champions strong

Last Saturday and Sunday’s Polar Bear Tennis Tournament at Bill Reynolds Tennis Center produced a lot of champions.

Stephen Mayfield won the men’s 3.5 division championship with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Rex Wade III.

In the 3.5 men’s division consolation round, Lane Smith took first with a 6-7, 6-4 with a 10-3 tie breaker victory over Cent Forrester.

The men’s 4.0 division championship featured Clayton Powell winning the championship with a victory over Ezra Lusk.

Chrystal Adams won the 2.5 women’s division championship with a 6-2, 4-6. 1-0 victory over Nicole Lee.

The 3.0 women’s division championship was won by Susan O’Neal who downed Carol Finley 6-4, 6-0 in the championship match.

In the 3.5 women’s division championship match, Nikki Priest defeated Charisse Martin.

Katie Monson won the 4.0 women’s division championship with a 7-5, 3-6. (1-0) (10-7) victory over Linda Monson.

The father and son team of Rex Wade Jr. and Rex Wade III won the 7.0 men’s division doubles championship with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Jerry Little and Clayton Poague.

In the 7.0 men’s division doubles consolation round, Scott Drew and Rick Laquardia finished first with a 6-4, 6-4 win over John Lott and Chris Lott.

In the combined 8.0 men’s division doubles competition, John Arnold and Tom Arnold won the championship with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Ezra Lusk and Kenneth Cady.

Bill Powell and Clayton Powell won the combined 8-0 men’s division doubles consolation championship with a 6-2, 7-5 victory by John Brooks and Travis Sykes.

The combined 6.0 women’s division doubles championship was won by Carol Finley and Susan O’Neal. They downed Crystal Adams and Tabitha Spooner 6-4, 6-0.

In the combined 7.0 women’s division doubles championship match, Sheila Edwards and Suzi Hartzog defeated Chrisse Martin and Suzi Rush Kraft.

Joan Overman and Carol Powell won the combined 7-0 women’s doubles consolation championship with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-7 victory over Linda Cleveland and Donna Trammell.

Leslie Harrell and Kadee Newberry won the combined 8.0 women’s doubles championship with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Robin Dye and Suzi Faulk.

Carole Floyd and Linda Monson won the combined 8-0 women’s doubles consolation championship with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Sherry Cady and Jackie Larson.
