Funeral services for Carlton Jones, 41, of Chiefland, Fla., formerly of Attapulgus, were held Saturday, Feb. 7, at Greenshade A.M.E. Church in Gadsden County, Fla., with Minister Beverly Davis officiating.

Interment followed in the church’s cemetery, with Jones’ cousins serving as active pallbearers.

Born Jan. 1, 1968, in Orange County, Fla.. Mr. Jones died on Feb. 2, 2009, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.

Mr. Jones was the son of Lottie Miller Jones and the late Willie Jones Jr. He attended public schools in Attapulgus, and he was formerly a member of St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church in Attapulgus. He was a member of the Prince Hall Freemasonry fraternal organization.
Survivors include his mother, Lottie Miller Jones of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters, Sharon Eutsay, Samantha Gardner and Victoria Trotter, all of Tallahassee; six brothers, Stanley Jones of Holiday, Fla., Willie Jessie Jr. of Baker County, Ga., Phillip Jessie and Christopher Jessie, both of Tallahassee, Kelvin Jones of Camilla, Ga., and Kizzy Jones of Orlando, Fla.; and a host of family and friends.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of funeral arrangements.
