Funeral services for Mary Helen Williamson Berwanger, 57, of Bainbridge, were held Monday, Feb. 2, at First Baptist Church in Bainbridge with the Rev. Paul Medley officiating.

Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Jon Powell, Shaun Smith, Mark Nobles, Brad Pyatt, Jim Hedgpath and George Graham serving as pallbearers.

Born on Oct. 30, 1951, in Monahans, Texas, Mrs. Berwanger died on Jan. 30, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.

Mrs. Berwanger was married to Ralph Berwanger and during the couple’s 34-year marriage, they had lived in Japan, Alaska, Texas, California and Maryland. They had lived in Decatur County since 2004. She graduated with honors from Bainbridge College in 2008.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Berwanger; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Smith of Columbus, Ohio, and Nichole Marie Powell of Louisville, Ky.; two sons, David Bryan Berwanger of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Elijah Allen Berwanger of Bainbridge; two brothers, Bary Wayne Williamson of Austin, Texas, and Richard Kyle Williamson of Midland, Texas, and five grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Cox-Ware Funeral Home.
