Adell Stubbs

Funeral services for Adell Mitchell Stubbs, 85, of Decatur County, were held on Sunday, Jan. 11, at First Morning Star Baptist Church with Pastor Nathan Reed officiating. Interment followed at Morning Star Cemetery with grandsons serving as active pallbearers and nieces and nephews serving as flowerbearers.
Born on Nov. 29, 1924, in Gadsden County, Fla., Mrs. Stubbs died on Jan. 8, 2009. Mrs. Stubbs was a deaconess and a member of Home Mission at First Morning Star Baptist Church. She was an employee at Southlands International Paper Company for many years. She loved quilting, cooking cakes, baby-sitting her grandchildren and visiting friends at the Senior Center. Five of Stubbs’ 14 children preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Sam Stubbs Sr.; seven sons, Billy Stubbs and his wife, Betty, Bobby Stubbs and his wife, Lucy, Carlton Stubbs and his wife, Pearlia, Clinton Stubbs and his wife, Norvia, Larry Stubbs and his wife, Debra, Sam Stubbs Jr. and his wife, Alice, and Ronald Stubbs; two daughters, Annette Allen and Beulah Handsford and her husband, Ralph; daughter-in-laws, Euzera Stubbs and Catherine Stubbs; son-in-law Louis Brown; brother, the Rev. Harry Mitchell and his wife, Dorothy; three sisters, Moriah Stevens and her husband, John Henry, Alberta and Daisy; 36 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Bruton Mortuary in Bainbridge was in charge of arrangements.
