Bainbridge dentist, Jack Leverett Jr., DMD, MAGD, has been recognized as one of only three civilian dentists in the nation to achieve certification by the American Board of General Dentistry for the year 2008.

Certification by the American Board of General Dentistry demonstrates a dentist’s ongoing commitment to excellence and willingness to be examined by his or her peers.

Dr. Leverett earned the right to challenge the board after completing a five-year Mastership program offered by the Academy of General Dentistry.

Then he successfully completed the following: 1) a comprehensive written examination, 2) an oral examination covering all facets of general dentistry, and 3) defended his own multidisciplinary cases presented to a panel of three military, three academic and three civilian dentists representing the American Board of General Dentistry.

According to the American Board of General Dentistry, “this prestigious recognition of extensive knowledge in comprehensive dental care gives general dentists confidence that they are able to provide their patients with the highest level of care possible.”

Dr. Leverett states that continuing education is the backbone of his practice, and is a major factor and the major influence on the care, skill and judgment that he is able to provide his patients. He said he feels that while completing the Mastership program in 2005 expanded his breadth of knowledge, his preparation for Board Certification greatly increased his depth of knowledge.

Dr. Leverett was recognized for his achievement in Orlando in July during the Academy of General Dentistry annual meeting.
