Funeral services for Charles M. Brinson, 59, of Whigham, Ga., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at Whigham Baptist Church with the Revs. Steve Poppell and Bob Knight officiating.

Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Whigham with Tommy Logue, Jeff Brinson, Terry Parker, Eddie Long, Joel Singletary and Roger Fowler serving as active pallbearers. The Whigham High School Class of 1968 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home.

Born on Jan. 9, 1950, in Whigham, Ga., he died on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge.

Mr. Brinson graduated from Whigham High School in 1968, and he was a member of the Georgia National Guard, a salesman for Lance Inc., and a member of Whigham Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and his dogs, Sport and Spanky.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Pat Chastain Brinson of Whigham; two daughters, Stacy Brinson of Columbus, Ga., and Tracy B. George of Beaver Creek, Ohio; three brothers, Larry Brinson of Cibolo, Texas, Travis Brinson of Hillsboro, Ga., and Raiford Brinson of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two sisters, Faye Smith of Climax and Martha Payne of Cordele, Ga.; his mother, Wilma Mobley Brinson of Whigham; and two grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home in Bainbridge is in charge of arrangements.
