Proper care of animals taught
Bainbridge Decatur County Humane Society members Debbie Cothren and Ami Godby, both of West Bainbridge Elementary, recently presented a character education program in Decatur County schools where students were instructed on the proper care and treatment of animals. Students throughout the county participated in collecting donations for homeless pets at the shelter. WBE student Austin White collected $140, the most in the county, and won a large stuffed dog. WBE was also the school collecting the most money, $1,128 and the principal Allyson Key was presented with a plaque in recognition of the school’s contributions. Jones-Wheat elementary was in second place—collecting $670.
