Mr. Evans was a native of New Cumberland, W.Va., and moved from Chatham, N.J., to Tallahassee in 1979. He retired after 33 years with the 3M Company and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He was a Past Noble Grant of the International Order of Odd Fellows Leon Lodge No. 5, a member of Orion Lodge No. 8 in Bainbridge and a Mason for more than 53 years. He was also involved with the Scottish Rite and Shriners. He served his country as a pilot with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor “Ellie” Holt Evans.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Evans of Chicago, Ill., and Ellie Evans of Tallahassee; a son, William F. “Chip” Evans of Winter Springs, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

Bevis Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
