Our benchmark

In many Georgia counties, the county courthouse is in the center of the town square.
Here in Bainbridge, we are more fortunate.
The county’s third courthouse was on the property at the corner of West and Water streets, but it was taken down in 1904 and the vacant lot was then sold to the City of Bainbridge.
Now for more than 100 years, our center of town—our benchmark—has been Willis Park.
It’s our center of town—often times of celebration or rare incidents of mourning—it’s our community’s hub.
Willis Park will again be the center for celebration and song on Wednesday, Christmas Eve, as the Bainbridge British Brass Band plays Christmas carols beginning at 6 p.m.
Come join in the singing and rejoicing of the birth of Jesus Christ in Willis Park.
