The first annual meeting of the Lake Seminole Association will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. at the Spring Creek Volunteer Fire Department on State Road 253 West in Seminole County with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers District Commander Col. Byron G. Jorns serving as a special guest speaker.

The newly formed association works on initiatives that will benefit common interests in and around Lake Seminole, their slogan being, “Dedicated to protecting the interests of one of America’s greatest lakes!”

A recent LSA newsletter urged members to attend the upcoming meeting, stressing the importance of a strong relationship with Col. Jorns and the Corps of Engineers staff.

Lake Seminole is part of the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River basin and is managed by the Corps of Engineers Mobile, Ala., District. The letter also noted the Corps of Engineers and Col. Jorns have been “most cooperative in supporting LSA’s initial year of organization.”

At the meeting, the LSA will also elect their 2009 officers and directors including chair-elect, secretary and treasurer.
