Three local firefighters were honored Nov. 18 for their heroic actions in rescuing a toddler trapped in a burning house. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4904 Commander Hill Yates presented VFW of the United States Life-Saving Awards to Sgt. Marvin Knight and firefighter Jeff Kelly of Bainbridge Public Safety and former Public Safety officer Brian Palmer. The trio were recognized in front of the Bainbridge City Council for their joint efforts to save a 2-year-old after her family’s house at 1417 4th St. in Bainbridge caught fire on March 19, 2008.
