Callaway is October’s senior of month
Published 4:02 pm Friday, November 21, 2008
Minnie Callaway was voted Senior of the Month for October by her friends at the Senior Center.
Ms. Minnie, as she is affectionately known at the center, is a wonderful, fun loving and helpful person, always will to participate in any and all activities we have at the center. She is married to Willie Callaway and they have four children and seven grandchildren. That could keep anyone busy, but not Ms. Minnie.
She also helps take care of her father, who seems to be the light of her life. She’s worked in Whigham at the nursing home for several years, but retired from Southwestern State Hospital in Thomasville. She’s been coming to the center only about a year but already we have all gotten attached to her. She enjoys her church, quilting, taking care of her father, grandchild and interacting with all people. Congratulations, Ms. Minnie, and we all know you deserve this award.
Well folks, get ready and mark your calendar. The Senior Center will be having a Christmas Dance on Friday, Dec. 19, at the center. The dance will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and a band will be provided for your dancing pleasure. Finger-foods will be served at intermission. The tickets will be $5 each and you can get your tickets in advance at the center. We are all looking forward to seeing you and having a great time.
Thanks to Doyle Welch from the Bainbridge Public Safety Department for coming to talk to the seniors about Fire Safety. You were very informative and our seniors learned a lot from your presentation. Thanks so much.
