Bearcats season over

Brunswick, Ga.—The Bearcats’ season came to end Friday night when they lost to the Brunswick Pirates 34-20 during a first-round state Class AAAA playoff game on the road.
The Bearcats end coach Ed Pilcher’s first season with the team 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the Region 1AAAA.
The Pirates made their mark on the Bearcats early in the game when Bainbridge fumbled the football on the one-yard line. Brunswick then worked their way up to their own 45-yard line when quarterback Davis Hoyt threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to Darious Slay. Josh Coleman ran in for the two-point conversion to make it 8-0.
Earlier in the second quarter, Bainbridge kicker Keenan Adams put the Bearcats on the board for the first time with a 32-yard field goal with 5:12 left in the second quarter to make it 8-3.
Brunswick answered with 2:41 left in the second quarter when Hoyt threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Slay to make it 14-3.
Adams ended the first half with a 45-yard field goal, pulling the Bearcats to within eight, 14-6. Adams’ kick was made possible when the Pirates had a penalty against them for holding following an interception by Slay.
Brunswick opened the second half with a Hoyt-to-Coleman touchdown pass to make it 20-6.
Jamarco Brown scored from a yard out to bring the Bearcats up to 20-13 with 3:48 left in the third quarter to culminate a nine-play, 63-yard drive.
Brunswick answered with a 56-yard Hoyt touchdown pass to Damarious Dawson with 2;10 left in the third, making it 26-13.
Coleman, who took the snap, ran two yards for a touchdown with 10:08 left in the fourth quarter to culminate a six-play, 79-yard drive to make it 34-13. The touchdown was set up by a 62-yard pass from Hoyt to Slay from the Pirates’ 36 to the Bearcats’ 2.
With a 1:37 left in the game, Justin Harris picked up a Pirate fumble and ran 81 yards for a touchdown, making it 34-20.
