Drug arrest
Local investigators arrested a Bainbridge man on drug related charges last week thanks to a tip.
On Oct. 27 Decatur County Sheriff’s Capt. Chip Nix received information that Terrance Baker was selling drugs on the porch of an abandoned apartment at King-West Housing Project.
Investigators from DCSO and Bainbridge Public Safety went to the apartment complex. When they approached Baker they could smell marijuana and noticed a bundle of money in his hand, according to incident reports.
When they conducted a search they found a digital scale on a table and one large bag and two small bags of marijuana on Baker.
Baker, 23, of 1626 Bethel Road, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a housing project and possession of drug related objects.
When the May term of the Superior Court of Decatur County presented its true billed cases more than half were drug related.
In fact, of the 92 true billed cases, 68, or 73.9 percent, were for drug charges.
