Funeral services for Evan Blanton, 75, of Climax, Ga., will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m., in Beggs Funeral Home Perry Chapel of Perry, Fla.

Interment will follow in Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison County, Fla.

Mr. Blanton died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at his residence in Climax.

He retired after 26 years as an iron worker and his was an elder. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy Blanton and Kenneth Blanton.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Bridges Blanton of Perry; two sons, Wayne Blanton of Climax and Michael Blanton of Thomasville, Ga.; two daughters, June Whiddon of Climax and Janice Ross of Perry; two brothers, Audrey Blanton of Madison and Almon Blanton of Perry; three sisters, Jewell Tyson of Madison, Evelyn Stephens and Myrtle Watts, both of Perry; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church or Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 1323 E. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA 39817.

Beggs Funeral Home-Perry Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
