Funeral services for Vernon Lloyd Norris, 77, of Iron City, Ga., were held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m., at Iron City Baptist Church with the Revs. Justin Young, Harold Crosson, and Donna Bevels officiating.

Interment will follow in Bellview Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Colquitt, Ga., with Eric Norris, Chad Norris, Jeff Norris, Sol Dupriest, Jimmy Jones, and Joe Mclendon. Honorary casketbearers will be the members of the Iron City Classics.

Mr. Norris was born in Cherokee County, Kan., and passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville, Ga.

He served in the U.S. Army before working as a machinery operator with Planters Products and then Beall Peanut Company for 25 years before his retirement. He was a member of Iron City Baptist Church, serving as member of the Iron City Classics.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Perry Norris of Iron City, Ga.; three sons, David Norris of Iron City, Steve Norris of Pansey, Ala., and Jerry Norris of Ridgeville, S.C.; two brothers, Charles Norris and Jim Norris all of Columbus, Kan.; and one sister, Nancy Reynolds of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
