Funeral services for Harvie D. Kennedy, 77, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held Monday, Oct. 20, at the Donalsonville Church of God with the Rev. Stan Long officiating.
Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville with Steve Kennedy, James Kennedy, James Hersey, Randy Stewart, Keith Bowen, and Steve Houston serving as active pallbearers.
Mr. Kennedy was born in Dale County, Ala., and passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked with Arizona Chemical Plant in Port St. Joe, Fla., for 38 years before retiring from that company. During that same period, he also worked with Stevedore for 20 years before his retirement. After moving to Seminole County, he was involved in farming and may best be remembered for his occupation of beekeeper. He was a member of Seminole Masonic Lodge #83, and was a member of the Donalsonville Church of God where he was active in the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Kennedy of Donalsonville; a daughter, Sue Kennedy Vernon of Dothan; a son, Stan Kennedy of Donalsonville; five sisters, Myree Snow of Lake Worth, Fla., Ollie V. Neel of Port St. Joe, Fla., Lottie C. D’Andrea of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Nellie B. Stewart of Donalsonville and Mavis E. Flight of Jacksonville, Fla., and three grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Donalsonville Church of God Building Fund, 5060 Hwy. 91, Donalsonville, GA 39845.
