Lady Cats fall to Cairo

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats fell to the rival Cairo High Syrupmaids 4-0 on Thursday. The Lady Cats out hit the Syrupmaids eight hits to three in the game, but failed to bring any runners around to score.

Cairo took an early lead in the bottom of the first when the lead off hit sent a homerun over the wall in left field.

The Syrupmaids added to their leads with one run in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the bottom of the fifth.

The Lady Cats scattered their eight hits over seven innings and failed to advance a runner past second base. Tori Sprenkle and Mabry Grace Briggs each had two hits in the game. McKynleigh Harrell, Abigail Garnder, Makayla Hamilton and Haely Thompson each added one hit.

On the season Briggs leads the team with a .462 batting average. Harrell leads the team with eight RBIs. Gardner has proved to be the Lady Cats ace as she had pitched in 74 of the 80 innings that the Lad Cats have played. She has struck out 53 batters and only walked 17 and has a 2.17 ERA for the season.

Bainbridge traveled to Veterans for a region game on Friday. They return to the field on Wednesday at TCC.
