Seventh grade football crushes McIntyre Park Bulldogs 40-0

The Bainbridge Middle School seventh grade Bearcats football team improved their record to 5-0 with a 40-0 Wednesday road victory over Thomasville’s McIntyre Park Middle School seventh grade Bulldogs.

The Bearcats took an 8-0 lead with 6:28 left in the first quarter when running back Reshad Broadnax ran 15 yards for a touchdown to culminate a 58-yard drive. Fullback Jvon Lee ran up the middle for the 2-point conversion.

Key plays in the opening drive were a 34-yard sweep left by Broadnax and a 10-yard run up the middle by Lee.

The Bearcats increased their lead to 16-0 when Broadnax ran 22 yards for a touchdown with 1:32 left in the first quarter to culminate a 55-yard drive and fullback Courtney Thomas ran in for the 2-point conversion.

Cornerback Caleb McDowell recovered a fumble by the Bulldogs quarterback in the end zone for a touchdown with 1:17 left in the first quarter and fullback Jvon Lee ran in for the 2-point conversion to put the Bearcats up 24-0.

With 7:53 left in the second quarter McDowell intercepted a pass and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown. Fullback Jvon Lee ran up the middle for the 2-point conversion to increase the Bearcats advantage to 32-0.

The final Bearcats touchdown of the day came at the 4:15 mark of the second quarter when fullback Courtney Thomas ran for 40 yards for a touchdown to culminate a 68-yard drive. Caleb McDowell ran in for the 2-point conversion.

Bearcats seventh grade coach Blake Carruthers said he was proud of his teams great hustle and desire.

“Everyone is really giving a 100 percent effort every week”  he said. “We are getting true team victories.”
