Recently, the Decatur County Sports Hall of Fame board of directors named the four members of the 2013 class. All have made their mark on sports in Decatur County, and all are very worthy of this achievement.

Those four individuals are Carol Chason Whitmire, a women’s college hall of fame basketball player; Ben Rogers, a men’s junior college hall of fame basketball coach; Ed Varner, a record-setting high school running back; and Joe Crine, the longtime sports editor of The Post-Searchlight.

The Hall of Fame induction banquet will be Saturday, March 2, at 6 p.m., at the Bainbridge State College Kirbo Center. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Kirbo Center, Parker Paints or from any Hall of Fame board of directors member.

Let’s be sure to give these four deserving individuals a huge audience when they are inducted into the Decatur County Sports Hall of Fame.
