This Sunday is Veterans Day, and it is fitting that it should fall so soon after a national election. After all, our veterans have fought for centuries to keep the United States a free and powerful nation, securing our right to vote in peaceful elections like the one held Tuesday night.

Locally, the City of Bainbridge will hold its Veterans Day ceremony on Monday at 9 a.m., at Willis Park. It is always a beautiful event and we urge all citizens to attend, if they get the chance.

Remember, we can never fully thank our veterans for everything they have done for us. Their sacrifices and efforts have truly kept us the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
