Let’s not let election result divide us

Barring another close election like in 2000, by the time you read this, you will know who will be the next president of the United States of America.

No matter what, it is likely that around half of Americans will be disappointed with the outcome. Up until the final day, polls were predicting a very close, 50-50 race between former Gov. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama.

There will no doubt be those who are upset that “their side” lost, but we urge everyone to stay calm. This nation has had Democratic presidents before, and this nation has had Republican presidents before. The world is not going to end just because the country’s leader doesn’t hold your political views.

We hope that nobody on the losing political side will lash out — either verbally or physically — at their fellow Americans who voted differently. No matter what, the winning candidate is the president of the United States of America, and we are all Americans. Let’s get behind him, starting today.
