Thanks, Tea Party for holding forumPublished 8:31pm Tuesday, October 2, 2012
We thank the local Bainbridge Tea Party Group for organizing a political forum Monday, where candidates for Decatur County’s two State House districts were given the chance to make their case to the voters.
Participating in Monday’s forum were incumbent District 171 representative Jay Powell, a Republican, and his Democratic Party opponent, Jewell Howard; and incumbent District 173 representative Darlene Taylor, a Republican, and her Democratic Party opponent, Haley Shank.
Regardless of how citizens may feel about the Tea Party’s politics, it is wonderful that they took the time to organize this important event. An informed electorate is an important part of a successful democracy.
